CHOCOLATE MOUSSE CAKE..

CHOCOLATE MOUSSE CAKE

FOR THE CAKE
250 g chopped bitter chocolate
5 big eggs, separated
150 g icing sugar
125 g soft butter
50 g grinded almonds
60 ml Grand Marnier

FOR THE MOUSSE
150 ml heavy cream
250 g chopped bitter chocolate
4 big eggs, separated

FOR THE FROSTING
250 g chopped bitter chocolate
60 g butter
2 tbsp. icing sugar

1. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius. Line the tin (20×20 cm) with parchment.

2. Melt the chocolate in a hot water bath. Cool down a bit.

3. Whip the egg yolks and sugar into creamy foam. Slowly mix in the butter, then slowly add chocolate. Add the almonds.

4. Whip the egg whites in a separate bowl. Slowly mix the whites into the chocolate cream.

5. Pour into the tin. Bake 45-50 min till the cake has risen a bit and the top is firm.

6. Let it rest for 10 min in the tin, take of the sides of the tin of and cool it down. When cold, cut into two layers. Place the top layer upside down back into the tin, sprinkle with half of the liqueur.

7. MAKE THE MOUSSE: whip the cream into soft peaks and set aside.  Melt the chocolate in a hot water bath. Cool down a bit, then whip the egg yolks and slowly mix it in the chocolate. Then whip the egg whites into soft peaks, fold into the chocolate mix. Put the mousse on top of the first layer in the tin, place the other layer of the cake on the top it and sprinkle with the rest of the liqueur.

8. Place the cake into the fridge for the night. Before serving carefully remove the cake from the tin and place on a plate.

9. MAKE THE FROSTING: Melt the chocolate, butter and icing sugar in a hot water bath. Pour over the cake, let it drip down the sides.

10. Serve with ice cream!

P.S. This was one of the cakes I served to my friends at my name day party. I guess this one was the favourite of two. It was served with cream poppy seed ice-cream.. lovely..

    Taisīju pēc receptes.No sākuma biju dikti skeptiska un likās, ka tas būs ļoti grūti, bet uzsākot procesu, nepaspēju pat “iesvīst”, kad kūka bija jau gatava!!!! Perfekta garša!!! No cilvēkiem kam to pasniedzu pirmās minutes nevarēja izvilināt ne vārda atskanēja tikai labpatikas kunkstēšana un smilkstēšana …. Es pirmās kārtas liķiera vietā ieliku šnabī mērcētas (3 mēnešus) ķiršu pusītes … otrajai kārtai gan slacīju šo pašu ķiršu liķieri:)!!!PALDIES!!!
